Building Accessible Websites
West of England School and College
West of England School and College for young people with little or no sight required a website which was not only accessible to their learners but a site which delivered engaging information to parents of potential new learners to the School and College. The West of England team, were keen to convey their School and College through the use of video. In order to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 we have added captioning and provided text based transcripts to all the videos on the website.
The website allows staff of the West of England to keep their supporters, learners and their parents and informed of activities throughout the year.
The school is provided with regular statistics which informs them of the activities of their visitors to the website and the amount of bandwidth used to deliver the video content.
The West of England School and College are now using the slideshow from the website's homepage as greeting on a video display in their reception area.
